Goldwater's Foods of Arizona
Goldwater’s Foods of Arizona was founded in 1989 by Joanne Goldwater, Peggy Goldwater Clay and Carolyn Ross, the daughters and granddaughter of former Senator Barry Goldwater. Prior to co-creating Goldwater’s Foods, Peggy had her own line of specialty salad dressings under the label "Peggy Jane’s Special Products". This company was sold to Knott’s Berry Farm in 1986 allowing her to start a new food venture. Joanne Goldwater was also previously involved in the food business for 10 years with her own successful catering company in Scottsdale, Arizona. She was later joined by her daughter Carolyn Ross, who is now the President of Goldwater’s Foods of Arizona. Goldwater’s Foods originated the "Fruit Salsa" in 1989 with the innovative Paradise Pineapple Salsa under the Goldwater’s Taste of the Southwest label. This award-winning salsa has been the inspiration for the 4 other fruit salsas in their line. Other Goldwater family recipes have been captured in 4 traditional salsas including Sedona Red Salsa, deemed excellent by "The New York Times" and the latest, Cochise Corn and Black Bean Salsa, winner of a 1998 and 1999 Scovie Award presented at the Fiery Foods Show in Albuquerque and Reno. Goldwater’s Foods continues to set the standard for innovation in southwestern foods.
