Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Greetings all! My name is Gord Macey and I have published Toronto Pet Daily for the past four years. I have been involved in pet businesses for the majority of my life. For years my family owned two neighbourhood pet stores in north Toronto. I began working at the stores when I was 14 and continued to do so until I was 28. Then I opened Lawrence Park Pet Care, a small dog walking business in the neighbourhood.
I really enjoy publishing The Toronto Pet Daily & getting into fruitful debates with individuals when it comes to issues of animal welfare. I'm also proud to say that much of the advertising costs on the site are used for prize donations and direct donations toward local no-kill shelters in the GTA. Thus far I've been able to donate over $5500 to such causes, a testament to the loyal readers because let's face it, if you didn't read Toronto Pet Daily, there wouldn't be over 100 local businesses who advertise on the site. Of course it's always free to list your rescue organization on Toronto Pet Daily!
Three years ago I became involved in the fight for provincial oversight of the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA), an organization thousands of people feel has abused its powers and run amok within Ontario. The tipping point was the organization's decision to kill all animals in its care at its Newmarket headquarters. For more information and to read up on why this cause has galvanized so many Ontarians, click the OSPCA section of the blog. It is an issue that I am proud to write about and I will continue to do so in the hopes of raising awareness to all Ontarians who don't realize that the OSPCA is accountable to no governmental body in Ontario.
When I'm not walking doggies in the park or updating the blog, I try to spend as much time as I can traveling to sunny destinations and heading up to the family cottage. I've got two awesome dogs. Tyson is an 13 year old Cockapoo I've had since he was a pup, and Nelly is an 13 year old rescue who joined the family from the Toronto Humane Society four years ago.
That's about enough about me! Feel free to write me at email@example.com and share any stories you would like to see featured on Toronto Pet Daily, and any suggestions you may have.
Cheers and remember, "Why shop when you can adopt?"
