Gordon Rutty

At the age of 50, property research specialist Gordon Rutty made the decision to become a living organ donor by donating a kidney to a total stranger. Rutty has no regrets about the procedure, even though complications kept him in hospital weeks longer than necessary. “The person my kidney went to was married with children, they had spent the last five years on dialysis, hooked up to a machine. That was great to get that, it is an incredible feeling and very rewarding to know you have been able to give someone a better life, and potentially given them more life.’’
