US Congress Recognition Award Winner, Gozie C. Udemezue is an Attorney, a human rights activist and holds a Master of Laws Degree in Human Rights Law from Queen Mary College of the University of London. She is an alumna of the US Department of State International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP) and a fellow of the Africa Leadership Institute of West Africa (ALIWA) under the Aspen global leadership program.
In 2008, she founded Healing Hearts Widows Support Foundation Inc (HHWSF) in Enugu, Nigeria. Through HHWSF, she provides support to widows and their children with special focus on south east Nigeria. Under her leadership, HHWSF has been the beneficiary of funds from the Public Affairs Section of the United States Consulate General, Lagos; Virginia Gildersleeve International Funds New York, and most recently, Mama Cash, based in Netherlands. The foundation has more than 100 financial partners and volunteers cutting across different continents and professions. Using Facebook, she raises support for widows and their children. The foundation has hosted over 25 crusades and medical missions in rural and urban communities in Nigeria. Through the foundation's 'Adopt a Widow Program' and the micro credit loan scheme which she designed, 52 widows have benefited and their lives improved.
Gozie’s life is an example of positive widowhood rooted in her faith in God.
She is the Executive Director of Konz Consulting Limited, which she founded with her late husband, Chief Emeka Udemezue in 2005. The firm handles legal and property consultancies and training among others nationally and internationally. She also sits on the board of two international nonprofits based in Uganda, East Africa and Chicago, Illinois, USA. She has built networks and partnerships which spread across the length and breadth of Africa, Europe and the US.
Gozie founded the Leadership Club for Girls and Martin Luther King Club through which provides mentorship and leadership skills programs for young in and out of school urban and rural girls. An Evangelist and passionate preacher, she has preached the gospel of Jesus on different platforms in America and across Africa. She is a renowned global public speaker, covering human rights issues and life. Gozie resides in Enugu, Nigeria with her three amazing children.
