This year has seen the merger of our surgery with Wellesley Rd Surgery and Chiswick Family Doctors to form Chiswick Medical Practice with about 21,000 patients. Unfortunately, from the perspective of your committee, the year has also seen the attitude of the practice towards our patient group deteriorate further.

At the last AGM, on 1st August 2023, the majority of the committee resigned, disillusioned through lack of return on their considerable efforts.

The merged practices promised to establish an effective Patient’s Participation Group for the new enlarged practice. The practices decided not to involve our charity, previously the only active Patient Participation Group among the three practices.

Your committee resolved to wait to see how the formation of the new Patient’s Group progressed before considering the way ahead. More than six months later there is no new Patients Group.

As we approach the forthcoming AGM, we face important decisions about the future of our charity, and on 28th August we emailed all Partners of the Practice asking them to let us know their views about us and the future of patient participation. It instructed us to close down and described ambitious plans to set up a new Patient Participation System.

We now have to decide whether or not to comply with their instruction. This is up to us not the Practice.
