Grace Daly
Student in Michigan
Hi there! I’m Grace Daly, and as crazy as it seems, I’m a senior this year at Troy High School. These past few months have been hectic, to say the least. Not only have the past couple months completely flown by, but high school as a whole seems as if it were a blur. Yet, in that blur I have grown not only as a student, but as an individual. With that being said, I’d like to share a bit about myself!
Here at school, I am a part of student government and have been ever since I was a freshman. Ever since the day of my freshman orientation, I knew I wanted to be involved in the positive, spirited organization. Walking through the tunnel, which from a distance seemed terrifying, I felt so welcomed in a place where I thought I’d feel so out of place. Yet, I don’t think this is always the case. High school is stereotyped as this horrible, unwelcoming place, which unfortunately I think can be true a great deal of the time. Although, being in student government gives me the opportunity to overturn that stereotype and make every kid feel like I did on that day of orientation.
Dance is something that has always been a part of my life. I was enrolled at the age of 3 and have been a member of my studio’s competition team since the age of 10. One may think it’s a silly, tedious form of art, but to me it’s the consistent thing, along with my teammates and teachers, that motivates me every single day. It has challenged me in ways I wish I could describe and has taught me so many lessons along the way. From tying my first set of ballet shoes to getting lectured about the meaning of life, you could say I’ve been taught quite a few things. As cheesy as it sounds, I’ve also learned what it means to be passionate about something. This upcoming year, I am actually going to be teaching 2 classes which I am super stoked about! I hope that I’m able to transfer my passion to the kids I teach and spark more love for the sport.
Another thing I really enjoy is being active outside. One of my biggest achievements and things I am most proud of was that last year, I participated in a triathlon. The word “triathlon” sounded quite scary at first, but after coming to terms with my adventurous personality, I decided to take part in it alongside two of my friends. I am so grateful I decided to do it and wish I could have done it this year. Plus, I can say I did a triathlon; how many people get to say that?
I hope this helped you get to know a bit more about me!
