Travel. All throughout my life, my family has been moving, to no place rather exciting but non-the-less on the go. Whether it was from house to house or city-to-city we experienced change. Before I was five years old, I had lived in three different houses. All of which were located in New Orleans, Louisiana, the place I call home. When I was seven, two weeks into the second grade, Katrina hit and my family was once again uprooted. My mom, my seven-week-old brother, and myself were encouraged to evacuate, and so we did. My dad decided to stay at home and wait it out with our two dogs and cat. After living in Shreveport, Louisiana for two weeks we returned to New Orleans to find the city in shambles but our house in tact, minus a few shingles. Nonetheless we sold this house and moved across Lake Pontchartrain to Covington where we lived for three years. After three years and an addition to the family, my sister, we moved back to New Orleans to be closer to family. My family has always been very close and with all the moving throughout my life it has made us even closer. Rather than having steady friends to lean on, I was constantly moving thus my friends were always changing, but my family never faltered. We stayed in this next house for four years, then abruptly decided, for no reason at all, to move to Jackson Hole Wyoming. After spending an incredible year here, we moved back to the city that will always be home. I finished up high school at my parents’ alma mater; this was the school I had attended whenever we lived in New Orleans. After graduating I once again moved on to my next adventure… Athens GA.
