Graduada Sucurí first started training capoeira in Hawai`i with Mestre Kinha (Capoeira Besouro Hawai`i) in 2001. She eventually left Hawai`i and in 2006 (after a 3-year break), Graduada Sucurí started her training again with Mestra Cigarra, founder and director of ABADÁ-Capoeira San Francisco.
Graduada Sucurí established ABADÁ-Capoeira Chicago (ABADÁ Chicago) in February 2012. She offers capoeira instruction at Tandang Garimot Martial Arts and Wellness. She has conducted workshops and taught classes for several Chicago-based non-profit organizations including Generation L, Big Brothers Big Sisters, The Posse Foundation, and Breakthrough Urban Ministries.
