I am currently completing a Master’s in Religious Studies at the University of Ottawa in Ottawa, Canada, and I am currently President of the Religious Studies Graduate Student Association at the University of Ottawa.
I was also a co-founder of my department’s Undergraduate Journal of Religious Studies, and was Editor-in-Chief of that publication. The journal is in its third year of existence, and the project helped me discover my love of the editorial process.
My current research concentrates on the implications of works of critical religion on the continued use and definition of “freedom of religion” in Canadian courtrooms. Using arguments based in critical religion as well as queer theory, I analyze the legal definition of “religion” in Canada, in order to examine the effects that the discourse on “freedom of religion” has on the formation and establishment of new religious groups.
