Green Beret Foundation
Nonprofit and Veterans Services / Military Support in Montgomery, Texas
The Green Beret Foundation (GBF) is a respected nonprofit organization devoted to serving U.S. Army Special Forces Soldiers, their families, caregivers, and surviving loved ones. Since its founding in 2009, the Foundation has stood as a steadfast source of support, providing specialized assistance and programs that address the unique challenges faced by Green Berets throughout their military careers and beyond. Headquartered in Southern Pines, North Carolina, the Foundation embodies a mission of honor, resilience, and compassion—ensuring that America’s elite warriors and their families receive the care, resources, and recognition they have earned through their service and sacrifice.
The Green Beret Foundation was established by Aaron Anderson, a Special Forces Soldier who was wounded in combat and saw firsthand the lack of immediate and continuous support for injured Green Berets. Motivated by this experience, Anderson created the Foundation in 2009 to fill those critical gaps. What began as a mission to help wounded Soldiers recover has evolved into a comprehensive organization serving every member of the Special Forces community, from active-duty personnel and veterans to the families who stand behind them. The Foundation’s core purpose remains clear—to provide meaningful assistance that strengthens recovery, enhances quality of life, and promotes successful reintegration into civilian society.
Through a wide range of programs, GBF addresses the holistic needs of Green Berets and their families. Its Health & Wellness pillar supports both physical and mental health through evidence-based treatments such as Stellate Ganglion Block for post-traumatic stress, infrared light therapy, and advanced recovery systems designed to aid healing and resilience. Within this focus area, Task Force Tatanka promotes mental wellness, peer support, and family engagement—reinforcing the strength and unity essential to the Special Forces community.
The Foundation also provides immediate financial relief through its Casualty Support program, helping Soldiers and their families manage unexpected expenses following injury or illness. For Gold Star families and survivors, GBF offers ongoing advocacy, emotional support, and financial assistance to help them navigate life after loss. Transitioning Soldiers benefit from the Next Ridgeline program, which delivers career guidance, education resources, and tools to ensure a smooth transition from military to civilian life. Additionally, the Foundation’s Veteran Services Officers assist with navigating VA benefits, resulting in substantial long-term financial support for Green Berets and their families.
Beyond these programs, GBF emphasizes family empowerment through initiatives such as the Steel Mags network for spouses and caregivers, as well as scholarship opportunities that support the education of dependents. Since its inception, the Green Beret Foundation has provided over $28 million in direct assistance and supported more than 26,000 families worldwide. With 84 percent of every dollar going directly to programs, the Foundation upholds the highest standards of transparency and accountability, earning top ratings for its integrity and impact. Through its work, the Green Beret Foundation continues to honor the legacy of the Special Forces Regiment—standing beside America’s Quiet Professionals and ensuring that their courage, commitment, and sacrifice are never forgotten.
