Greg Groen
Barrie, Ontario, Canada
Having recently moved to Barrie, Ontario, Greg works as an insurance broker and lends his time and management skills to a number of local groups, including Living Green and the Huronia Symphony Orchestra.
Greg’s environmental journey began in his early teen’s. At the time an avid fisherman and canoeist, he witnessed first hand the destruction of many of his favourite spots from acid rain, pollution, and run off of fertilizers from the neighbouring farms, and gave his first speech about the dangers of climate change in grade 8.
Artisticly, Greg became involved with the Huronia Symphony Orchestra after being involved in music from the time he was a child. Taking piano lessons for many years, playing in public for choirs, recitals and in a few rock bands, he decided to give back through becoming involved in the management of the regional orchestra.
Greg grew up in Chatham, Ontario and has lived in Grand Rapids Michigan, Ottawa, Orangeville, Kitchener, and Windsor Ontario. Greg has studied at Calvin College, Wilfrid Laurier University, as well as the Universities of Guelph and Ottawa.
