about me ... no ... this is about a stark challenge to our credibility as a priveliged life form on this dazzling planet.
a graceful wind-borne albatross plucks an inviting morsel from the surface of the sea...
she injests it as her mothers taught ... she may later feed it to her own hungry chick .... a small fish perhaps ... no, not this time... she has just swallowed a disposable cigarette lighter ... tomorrow it may be a plastic bottle cap or a strand of cut-away fishing net ... each a part of the daily swelling plastic soup choking our oceans.
there is, as we all quietly know, an ever increasing, land borne plastic tide.
a project has consumed me for about a thousand days. it seeks to respond to urgent questions ...
- can we find a destination for carelessly discarded plastics that is less harmful to our fellow creatures... our children ... our children's children ...
- can we divert it towards useful good works ...
- can we advocate for responsible use of plastics ...
did that man say with confidence ... yes we can ...
i work hard on a partial solution...
