Greg McConnell
I have taken part in several initiatives through work, education, and volunteer endeavors over the past eighteen years which involved implementing various technologies to improve organizational performance, teaching, and learning. My current pursuit of a doctorate in Adult & Higher Education, my project management knowledge, as well as my work experience in non-profit organizations and higher education have given me a solid understanding of collecting data, analyzing data, and implementing changes and/or new initiatives and programs as a result of data collection and analysis. Additionally, I have extensive experience assessing community, workforce, organizational, and student needs; developing and teaching education courses/training programs to support the needs; assessing student learning; and evaluating the effectiveness of course/program objectives. I firmly believe in the importance of data-driven programming and change.
In short, my work experience thus far has been aimed at helping organizations grow and people improve their lives through formal and informal teaching, advising, counseling, tutoring, advocating, mentoring, and developing/administrating educational programs. My work at the Greater Altoona Career & Technology Center and my previous positions at Penn State Altoona and Mount Aloysius College have given me a strong foundation and understanding of working with both faculty and students. In both of my previous positions at the Mount and Penn State Altoona, I was charged with creating academic support programs for first-year/at-risk students; thereby increasing persistence through graduation.
