Greg Claugus

Washington, Dc Metro Area

In 1986, I was born in Voorhees, New Jersey to a farm-boy from Ohio and a philanthropist and artist from Mexico City. After two years in Jersey and two more in London, my family relocated to Atlanta, GA, which is where I call home. I played various sports growing up, but my claim to fame is that I was ranked #10 in the world in gymnastics in fifth grade. Now, I know what you are thinking…yes, I can still do a backflip and yes, I do look amazing in a leotard. In high school, I was voted the person people would tell a deep, dark secret to. After graduating high school, my three best friends and I traveled throughout Europe for two weeks. It was an amazing trip that I will cherish forever…except the part where I got scammed for 100 Euros in Barcelona.

I also attended college in Atlanta at Georgia Tech. At Tech as a Biomedical Engineer, I rushed and joined the Sigma Chi fraternity and eventually won the Most Dedicated Officer Award as Social Chair. After graduating, I accepted an Associate Sales Representative position at Life Technologies (now Thermo Fisher Scientific) and relocated to Washington, D.C. I am currently an Account Manager at the National Institutes of Health working with researchers to find a cure for cancer and various neurological diseases.

It took some time adjusting to a new city, but I eventually grew to love D.C. and made numerous new friends along the way. I currently live in Dupont circle with a fellow Georgia Tech Sigma Chi. In my free time, you can find me attending various sporting events. I am a die-hard Atlanta sports fans, but I enjoy attending other city’s sporting events mainly as I enjoy seeing new teams and appreciate visiting historic venues. I enjoy playing poker with friends, but I mostly enjoy winning and taking their money. Last thing to mention for now, I enjoy hiking and rock climbing, and have climbed two peaks with my brother and father. There is a certain special feeling you get when you conquer a mountain peak to enjoy breathtaking, 360 degree views. I would love to plan a trip to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro with you all while we are here in school.
