Greg Gerkens

Greg Gerkens, the assistant principal at Eastern Suffolk Board of Cooperative Educational Services, administers a high school special education program for 9th- through 12th-graders in Centereach, New York. He previously served as a special education science teacher and an administrative intern for the Sachem Central School District in Wyandanch, New York. Greg Gerkens’ duties as an administrative intern included assisting the principal of Wyandanch Memorial High School and the athletic director of the Wyandanch Union Free School District (UFSD). A former special education instructor with nearly 10 years of experience, Mr. Gerkens led classrooms in the Wyandanch UFSD, the South Manor Central School District, the Sachem Central School District, and the Sayville UFSD.

Outside of the professional environment, Greg Gerkens volunteers as an emergency medical technician/advanced life support provider and the head of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration Committee for Brentwood Legion Ambulance. He has also provided recent financial and/or volunteer support to Autism Speaks and the Special Olympics Polar Plunge.
