With almost 20 years of experience in Marketing Communications, Brand Management and Brand Development, Gregory Johnson is a seasoned marketing executive. His expertise and proven track record has helped build some of the most successful and identifiable brands in the world. Mr. Johnson is now the Founder and Managing Director of Orbital Socket, a brand engagement company. Prior to this role Mr Johnson was the President of the award winning Boone Oakley Advertising in Charlotte, NC. Mr. Johnson was the marketing director and a founding team member of the Jordan Brand, a subsidiary of Nike, Inc. While Marketing Director for the Jordan Brand, Mr. Johnson helped create a marketing platform to transition Michael Jordan and his shoe, the Air Jordan, into one of the most powerful sport brands. He was responsible for establishing "Team Jordan", a positioning that created an elastic brand that could be credibly endorsed by other athletes and market several basketball footwear and apparel products in addition to the "Air Jordan". He also created a platform to market non-basketball footwear and apparel as part of the brand. While marketing director, the brand grew from approximately $100 million to $500 million globally.
Mr. Johnson earned a BA in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a MA in Theology from Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon.
