Gregg Mashberg

A 1977 graduate of the New York University School of Law, Proskauer Rose lawyer Gregg Mashberg did his undergraduate work at Case Western Reserve University, where he received his Bachelor’s degree cum laude in 1973. Gregg went on to work as an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of New York for the next five years, during which time he focused on class action lawsuits and public policy disputes. Currently acting as a Co-Head of the Securities Litigation & Enforcement Group at Proskauer Rose, Gregg Mashberg possesses a long track record of success in a wide range of legal matters related to securities litigation. Gregg has represented corporate executives and directors in proceedings that involve Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) investigations, as well as shareholder class actions and derivative actions and cases involving allegations of breaches of fiduciary duty under state law. Gregg is also experienced in issues involving telecommunications technology and challenges to the securities clearing and settlement system. Gregg Mashberg’s practice in securities litigation at Proskauer Rose also involves his service as outside litigation counsel for The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation, as well as its subsidiaries, which clear and settle the nation’s securities transactions. Gregg also represent clients in matters of public law, such as the challenge to the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s fare and toll hike in 2003 and the challenge to St. Vincent’s Catholic Medical Center’s plan to build a new $850 million hospital in the Greenwich Village Historic District. One of New York’s most prominent attorneys, Gregg Mashberg of Proskauer Rose holds numerous distinctions from a wide array of organizations. In 1980, Gregg won the New York City Bar Association’s Award for Excellence, and in 2010 and 2011, he earned inclusion among the Best Lawyers in America, among many other accolades. Gregg Mashberg serves as a trustee for the Washington Institute for Near East Policy and is a member of the Anti-Defamation League. For the ADL, Gregg acts as National Commissioner and Co-Chair of International Affairs Committee. In the past, he has served as Co-Chair of the New York Lawyers Division, and is a member of the Executive Committee of New York Regional Board.
