Gregg Routhier

A 15-year veteran of the information technology (IT) industry, Gregg Routhier has been applying his knowledge of computer science in various positions at SAS Institute, Inc. For 10 years, Gregg Routhier has assisted various companies with their IT needs in several positions, rising to his current post of Senior Consulting Manager for Global Retail Services.

In 2000, Gregg Routhier joined SAS as a Technical Consultant in the Retail Services group, where the company charged him with implementing systems for various clients. Responsible for every aspect of customer systems, Gregg Routhier often worked as the on-site SAS representative to see timely implementation through to completion. Filling this position for 4 years, his observations led to field implementations that reduced costs from $1.5 million to $900,000 within 5 years. Gregg Routhier also developed training programs, based on his ability to build strong partnerships with other SAS departments. SAS not only adopted Gregg Routhier’s programs in order to improve international collaboration, but found the materials so successful that the company later marketed them to its customers.

SAS promoted Gregg Routhier to Consulting Manager of Internal Technical Services in 2004, in which capacity he directly oversaw 16 experienced employees, and more than 20 independent servers and operating systems. Building on his previous success in problem solving human resources and IT-related inefficiencies, Gregg Routhier worked with SAS Research & Development to establish specific parameters for company applications through methodologies such as stress testing.

In his current position, Gregg Routhier manages a team of 75 consultants responsible for 10 to 15 large customer software implementations each year. Gregg Routhier ensures his department’s readiness for projected implementations one or two years into the future. His personnel retention, choice of cross-functional capabilities, and training have enabled remote locations to assume greater control over local matters.
