Greg is founder of Climate Wave Enterprises and has provided sustainable event management consultation and services for events in South East Queensland, Northern New South Wales, Indonesia & Brazil.
Including Indonesian Surfing Championship Tour, Kirra Surf Stock – surfing lifestyle festival, Gold Coast Beach Soccer Championships, Unity Festival, Eco Challenge Surfrider Eco Challenge, Bleach – surfing the fringe festival, SWELL Sculpture Festival and most recently Eco Challenge Gold Coast.
Looking to the future Greg can see the invaluable contribution that sustainable event management practices can have on reducing our impact on the planet. Greg’s sights are set on a sustainable future and he aims to have a significant impact on local events in the lead up to the 2018 Commonwealth Games and beyond.
Background:
Greg was inspired to become an environmental campaigner after attending a No Nukes rally in Sydney in 1989.
A long-time surfer he joined Surfrider Foundation in 1992 and held positions from national secretary to local branch president to executive director over a 10 year period and is now one of only a handful of honorary lifetime members.
Greg has initiated and managed numerous environmental projects ranging from local creek regeneration through to national and international campaigns and education programs. In 2002 he founded his own surf coaching business, while maintaining his environmental and social activism in a range of local and international campaigns.
Greg still volunteers his time in a mentor role as Vice President for the local Gold Coast Tweed Branch of Surfrider Foundation.
In recognition of his significant contribution to the Gold Coast community, Greg was invited to participate on the committee of Enviro Industry the endorsed representative body of the environment industry on the Gold Coast. Internationally, on a recent trip to Bali, Greg was asked to take on an advisory role to the Indonesian Surfing Championship Tour in their quest for sustainable events.
