Greg Lescoe
Hi, I'm Greg. I taught English at a middle school in rural Japan for half a decade. Nowadays, I turn Japanese text into English text for money. Maybe I can be of some use to you?
I'm told I speak Japanese pretty well, and that I'm pretty good at writing and editing English. I do not mean to brag, but sometimes these come together in a way that benefits others! I enjoy thinking about the challenge of trying to translate Japanese in such a way as to retain the character and personality of the original, without losing too much.
I've organized a few quiz nights at a local restaurant. People tell me that even when they didn't have any chance of getting the answers, they still had a great time. Part of this is probably how much everyone is dazzled by what I can do with Keynote.
I'm pretty good with computers, but who isn't, in this day and age? I'm a bit rusty nowadays, but I still speak MS-DOS and can at least ask where the bathroom is in command-line UNIX. I prefer using Mac OS nowadays, especially for work — there's just something about a print-resolution display that makes text so much more legible.
In my free time I enjoy cooking and playing games of all sorts. I once made a whole lasagna, completely from scratch. I will never do so again.
I like to think that I'm creative and insightful, but deep down I know it isn't really true. I generally still try anyway.
