Gregory A. Carthon

Father, Teacher, and Public Speaker in Fort Smith, Arkansas

With years of experience as a student pastor, I am passionate about investing in young people and helping my community meet the needs of a thriving generation. Under the mentorship of Pastor Gary L. Hinkle Sr., who entrusted me with guiding youth in leadership, strategy, and life.I developed a strong foundation in mentorship and organizational growth. Beyond my pastoral work, I consult with church and ministry leaders, offering guidance on launching and enhancing ministries.

My 18+ years of leadership and management experience span athletic programs, church ministries, private organizations, and municipal services. Currently, I serve with the City of Fort Smith Transit Department, where I play a key role in expanding transit services and improving public transportation. I work on strategic planning, policy development, and funding initiatives, particularly focusing on bridging transit gaps between Fort Smith and surrounding communities. Public transportation is essential to economic growth, accessibility, and regional development, and I am committed to making a lasting impact.

Beyond transit, I have successfully built and sustained ministries for over a decade, including revitalizing Saint James M.B. Church’s student ministry and media department. To further my expertise, I am pursuing my education at the University of Arkansas Grantham, strengthening my ability to lead and serve effectively.

Born on January 22, 1987, to Debra A. Carthon, I am the older brother of Frank E. Medlock III and Jessica N. Medlock. My greatest inspiration was my late grandmother, Mother Bernice Carthon, whose unwavering faith encouraged me to pursue my calling with purpose. Above all, I am a devoted father to my amazing daughter, Macy N. Carthon.

As an INTJ, I thrive on big ideas, problem-solving, and leadership. While I enjoy working with people, I also value downtime, and I often watch sports, watch movies, or listen to music.

Each day, I seek God’s guidance to grow as a leader, mentor, and servant, ensuring my work benefits both my community and future generations.
