Gregory Domecq
As Associate Principal at Western Albemarle High School in Crozet, Virginia, Dr. Greg Domecq oversees the English and Special Services Departments, as well as the 9th and 10th grade discipline, transportation, and the honor council. Since he joined Western Albemarle High School, Greg Domecq has also made strong contributions to district-wide committees like the School Business Alliance, the behavior management committee, and the International Baccalaureate Exploratory team. Greg Domecq possesses decades of experience as an educator and administrator, and he has played a vital role in making Western Albemarle High School one of the state’s most recognized secondary institutions. In the past, Greg Domecq held the position of Assistant Principal at Monticello High School. Greg Domecq successfully supervised social studies, fine arts, and physical education programs, and he also directed the Summer Leadership Academy. In that capacity, Greg Domecq spearheaded an initiative for students identified as in need of additional mentorship and academic support. Greg Domecq also coached varsity basketball and modeled outstanding community engagement by taking part in musical performances, writing the school’s fight song, and authoring the school’s PRIDE motto. Greg Domecq coached NCAA Division I Basketball at Winthrop University in South Carolina and at the University of Virginia before entering secondary education. As head basketball coach at St. Martin’s High School in Metairie, Louisiana, Greg Domecq was named Coach of the Year by the Times Picayune. Greg Domecq received his Master of Education and his Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Supervision from the Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia. Greg Domecq belongs to Phi Delta Kappa and the National Association of Basketball Coaches, and he coaches Fluvanna Youth Baseball and the Thomas Jefferson Youth Football League. Organizations including the Waynesboro Kiwanis Club and the University of Virginia have invited Greg Domecq to deliver lectures on education and other topics. A resident of Palmyra, Virginia, Greg Domecq enjoys spending time with his wife, Julie, and his son and daughters in his leisure moments.
