Greipur Gíslason
Project Manager, Consultant, and Editor in Reykjavík, Iceland
Over the past 10 years, Gíslason has organized and run several major cultural events in Iceland. He was the first festival director of DesignMarch, Iceland’s most important annual design festival and now acts as the festival’s chairman. He directed the Ísafjördur-based rock festival Aldrei fór ég suður in its founding years, RIFF – The Reykjavik International Film Festival, was project manager at the Reykjavik Art Festival as well as Ting, Nordic Art Festival and Tectonics Reykjavik Music Festival. Greipur has acted as the managing director for Vid Djupid since 2006.
Greipur worked as a project manager for the Iceland Symphony Orchestra overseeing new projects and development as well as he acted as the orchestra’s concert director one season.
One of the founding members for Morrinn - Ísafjörður your theatre and Íslandsleikhús, Gíslason has also produced for Kómedíuleikhúsið Theater in Ísafjörður as well as The living theatre in Reykjavík City Theatre.
Greipur Gislason studied Swedish at the Uppsala University, Sweden, as well as marketing and business at the University of Iceland. His background in music includes over 10 years of accordion studies at the Ísafjördur Music School as well as studies in musical theory and history.
Originally from Ísafjördur, Gíslason lives and works in Reykjavik, Iceland.
