Gretchen Evans
Retired Army Command Sergeant-Major in North Carolina
A retired veteran with more than 27 years of honorable service, Gretchen Evans rose to the rank of Command Sergeant-Major in the United States Army and earned a prestigious Bronze Star. After sustaining combat injuries that resulted in a traumatic brain injury and deafness, Gretchen Evans has achieved success as the author of the book Leading from the Front, and has been featured on such television programs as the Megyn Kelly Show and CBS’s Courage in Sports.
Since retiring from the Army, Gretchen Evans has been actively involved with No Barriers, a non-profit that provides life-improving opportunities for veterans with disabilities. In addition to leading a trip to Colorado to summit a 14,000-foot mountain, she joined No Barriers founder Erik Weihenmayer in leading a youth expedition to Nepal.
Ms. Evans is a member of the executive board of America’s VETDOGS, an organization that trains service dogs to help injured veterans live with more independence, and is a supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project. In her free time, she enjoys training for marathons.
