Communication, flexibility and organization have always been a priority in my personal and professional lives.
Recently, after over 10 years working as an organic food systems professional, I have decided to pursue a second master's degree in occupational therapy. I hope to blend my agroecological background with my passion for healing, movement, self-care and helping others to be their best selves. I plan to begin schooling to receive my MOT next year.
My most recent professional experience includes completion of a certificate in ecological horticulture through the Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems at UC Santa Cruz in 2012. I also received my MA in Food Systems from New York University in 2013.
My experience working on farms ranges from garden and tractor-scale. Furthermore, my agroecological education involved greenhouse management, propagation, compost building, bed-prepping, pruning, soil assessment, irrigation, planting/transplanting, weed/pest management, as well as harvests, cooking, cooking demos, facilitating workshops, leading tours and marketing the fruits and vegetables grown via farmers markets and farm stands.
From Fall 2013 through Fall 2014 I worked as an Adjunct Professor at New York University. I operated a small urban farm connected to NYU where I taught a hands-on experiential learning course called “Introduction to Urban Agriculture”. Topics included a holistic approach to farming in the city from seed to seed.
To find balance in my life, I practice yoga, run, hike and camp/backpack when I can. In 2015 I completed my 200 hour RYT certification with Tiffany Cruikshank from Yoga Medicine. I hope to bring nourishment and healing to San Diego through yoga, movement and good food.
