Shelagh Grieveson
Victoria - Australia
I live with my family in Melbourne, Australia. At heart, I'm a scouser -a Liverpool gal and I love a good laff.
I am an emerging writer of short fiction, poetry and the odd, quirky playful piece. I have had a few small literary successes.
Photography and painting are both nourishing pursuits and sometimes I like to transfer my images onto canvas.
I have enjoyed an extensive nursing career amongst other health related occupations however neurosurgical nursing was my speciality.
A tiny, cluttered shed, tucked away beneath a liquid amber tree is my sacred, hallowed creative workspace, (yes, women have sheds too!)
My milestone, fiftieth birthday became the catalyst for a personal quest and so in a determined effort, I embarked on a brief sojourn to revisit Liverpool, my hometown in the Northwest of England.
I journeyed to Ireland, the birthplace of my Mother and I learned about how, despite a legacy of enormous loss and seemingly insurmountable grief, the women in my family had an extraordinary resilience and a capacity to live purposeful lives.
This pilgrimage to explore my ancestry gave me the impetus to write my own story.
My memoir is a work in progress.
I have many interests - I'm curious about life, people and learning.
Reading, writing, film and music give me the fire in my belly and help me to make sense of the world and myself.
