Hi, my name is Gail Rogers. I am an undergraduate student majoring in Family Consumer Science. I am originally from Raleigh, North Carolina. I moved to Brooklyn, New York in 1968 but returned to Raleigh, North Carolina in 1977. My personal goal is to get my degree and give back to my community by helping young and old people to get an education because it is so important to have. Having God first in my life I know that I can accomplish it. I feel that taking this course will give me a greater insight on working with children. I'm in my 30th year working Wake County Public School System and I love letting children come up with ideas on their own. I learn something new every time I listen to them. It is a rewarding experience to have a part in a child's life whether its your own or someone else. It helps the children express themselves, and I find them learning in the process. Having that connection with each child and knowing that they all don't learn the same, their style is different and the pace is their own helps a child be successful in learning.
I am a Chrstian, I love working with people. I love spending time with my family and friends. We have family reunions, holiday gatherings and so much more. The first thing we do is thank God for his grace for bringing us together. We just enjoy one another. We express our feelings and love for each other.
I have a wonderful mother, who is my Pastor. She is a God sent woman. I constantly call her to see how she is doing and of course before we hang up from one another we start the pray wheel turning. She loves to talk and give out God's word to the people. I love her dearly. I have a companion who is very supportive. I have two daughters and five grandchildren which is dear to my heart. I am always telling my children I want the best for them and how important it is to get an education.
I am inspired by my mother. She has gone through so much, but she is still holding on to God' s unchanging hand. My mother has a great personality. She has a smile on her face all the time. She meets no stranger. I want to have the same personality and faith like she has. I love her. I pray that through my journey I will be as happy and joyous as she is. I tell my children that, if they have faith in God, all things are possible to him that believe.
