Manuel Schenkhuizen
Hi everyone! I am Manuel "Grubby" Schenkhuizen and I've been a professional gamer since 2003. Started with Warcraft III, and in January 2011 I switched to StarCraft II.
What does it mean to be a pro-gamer? It means making a living with playing (video) games. The very act of training is "work" - this practice is put to use in competitions and tournaments all over the world! Take a look at the places I've been just for pro-gaming tournaments: Russia, America, Italy, Korea, China, Sweden, France, Spain, Greece...
It's a fulfilling life, but fraught with difficulties! I'm on a pioneering kind of job - no one knows how pro-gaming will develop in even the near future. It's an exciting job, and I wouldn't have it any other way!
It is the enthusiasm and viewership of many gamers all over the world that makes this particular "entertainment industry" possible! Catering to these viewers, sponsors are putting in a lot of money to sustain this industry - an industry we call "eSports", which is short for electronic sports.
