Guarn A Sims

The recipient of a bachelor's degree in youth services and government from West Virginia Wesleyan College, Guarn A. Sims was a member of the school's football team and earned All-Conference distinction in his senior year. Upon graduating, he attended Florida A&M University and earned a master's degree in educational leadership. Guarn A. Sims began working as an elementary school assistant principal in West Palm Beach, Florida, in 1998, and has since served as principal at multiple middle schools and high schools in the state.

In his current role as K-8 principal at Bright Futures Academy, Guarn A. Sims leverages more than two decades of relevant leadership experience to oversee aspects such as school budget, safety, scheduling, data collection, and personnel management. He recently increased enrollment by more than 70 students via a summer marketing plan and subsequently improved overall school grade performance by 59 points over the prior year.

Outside his work in the field of education, Mr. Sims is the owner of Smoker 61 BBQ, LLC, a food catering business that acts as the BBQ vendor for the Delray Affair and Pirate Festival, among other events. He also enjoys competing in sprint triathlons and volunteering at St. John Missionary Baptist Church.
