Hi, my name is Gunner McLeod. I am a fifteen year old student living in Henderson, Nevada. I want to be an oral surgeon. An oral surgeon is a surgeon that works inside the mouth. In order to become an oral surgeon you need around 12 years of school after high school. You need 4 years to get a bachelors degree, four years of dental study, and four to six years of residency training. An oral surgeon will make around $350,000 a year on average but good ones can make upwards of $500,000 per year. The most important skill to becoming an oral surgeon is discipline. It is a lot of school to become an oral surgeon so you have to be disciplined to finish it all. You need focus to become an oral surgeon. You need focus in school and in the field. You need people skills. You will be talking with new people every day in this field. You need to have steady hands. Surgery is all about having steady hands and good body control.
