Gunner Scott eats fire for social justice, DJs lefty dance parties, and thinks way too much about politics. A queer FTM/Transgender activist now located in the Pacific Northwest, he received a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Goddard College, where he completed an oral history project entitled “Boston Area Transgender Community Leaders and the ENDA Crisis.” During the day, he is the Director of Programs at the Pride Foundation. A self-proclaimed "Philanthrogeek" he brings almost 20 years of experience leading change in the LGBTQ movement along with extensive experience in policy development, program management, training, legislative campaigns, fundraising, and communications. Prior to living in Seattle, he was the Executive Director of the Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition (MTPC) where he led a five-year legislative campaign for the Transgender Equal Rights bill, which passed in 2011. Through Making Waves Coaching and Consulting, he supports artists, activists, creative professionals and entrepreneurs in developing their practice and self confidence in promoting their craft, their brand, and their passion to the world. He has written articles for Boston Phoenix, Bay Windows newspaper, What’s Up magazine, Sojourner Women’s Forum, and “Agitate and Activate” the introduction to Pinned Down by Pronouns, the 2003 Lambda Literary nominee anthology. He is also a co-author on the study and the 2012 article in the American Journal of Public Health entitled “Transgender Health in Massachusetts: Results From a Household Probability Sample of Adults.” He has created culture making events including Boston’s Gender Crash Open Mic, co-curated Undivided: Dewey Square Pop-up Art Show – Inspired by Occupy Boston/Occupy Wall St, and he was one half of the DJ collective 2 Trans Guys and iPod. He is passionate about saving wild lions from extinction including advocating for lions to be added to the Endangered Species Act. An avid photographer, beginner yoga practioner, and often opiniated, he traded in the Northeast (snow) for the Northwest (rain) & lives in Seattle, WA in a Hobbit House with a leprechaun husband, 2 cranky cats, & Maltese rescue dog who thinks she is the Queen.
