How We Met
"London."
"Oh, are they British?"
"No, American."
"Oh - are they from Colorado/North Carolina too?"
"No."
We met on June 12, 2006 on the second day of our summer internship program in London, UK. We were going on a test run to our internships and they happened to be near each other. Our first encounter went something like this:
We're walking across crazy traffic. I decide that I need to be more outgoing since I'm going to spend 8 weeks with this guy and others. I introduce myself. Gus, distracted by traffic, immediately considers me to be aloof and annoying (unbeknownst to me til years later).
Ah, love at first sight.
Anyway, that's basically how we met. After the summer, Gus went back to Colorado briefly and then moved to Los Angeles. Annie returned to school and the two started up an epic long-distance relationship of 2500+ miles which culminated in Annie's move to LA post-graduation from Duke in July 2008.
