Hi, my name is Gus. After high school, I took a gap year because I had no clue where I wanted to go and what I wanted to do with my life. During this gap year, I lived in Stockholm, Sweden. I lived with one of my dad's best friends' family for about 6 months and worked for a tech company called Yubico. This was one of the best experiences of my life. I learned how to be comfortable being on my own and independent. For the second part of my gap year I wanted to find a more fun job somewhere. I ended up getting a job as a lift operator on the gondola in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. This job was awesome. We got 3 days off each week to ski and the days I was working I would have 3 hours of total break where I could ski while still getting paid. This experience was also so valuable to me. I found one of my favorite hobbies, matured as a person, and improved my social skills. Going into the gap year I was very scared and nervous. After I realized my decision in taking a gap year in the first place was probably the best decision of my life. A saying I got from my gap year and that I try to live by today is “Do things outside your comfort zone." When you do this you really learn about yourself and see a ton of growth.
