Over the course of his career, Gustavo L. Vila has upheld the law as both a New York City police officer and an attorney. He joined the city's police force as part of the uniform patrol in Midtown South Manhattan, from which role he advanced steadily to investigator, then sergeant, and finally to lieutenant. In this position, Gustavo L. Vila served in the Office of the Chief of Patrol and the First Deputy Commissioner's Office, Executive Officer of the Manhattan District Attorneys Office Investigators Squad, Commander of the 102 & 103 Detective Squads and Special Counsel to the Police Commissioner.

Mr. Vila attended Fordham University School of Law, which granted him a juris doctor in 1996. He remained with the New York City Police Department. As the Executive Officer of the Manhattan District Attorneys Office Squad and then as a commanding officer with the 103 & 102 Detective Squads, he supervised all detectives and oversaw all criminal investigations. He then transitioned into the private sector as an attorney, a position in which he built experience in real estate, commercial, and business law as well as in estate and domestic law.

Gustavo Vila went on to open his own practice and now leads as President of GLV Properties LLC, management & consulting. He has been an adjunct professor of business law at Brooklyn College of the City University of New York (CUNY) and maintains active membership in such professional societies as the American Bar Association, the New Jersey Bar Association, and the Newark Bar Association.
