Gustavo Toniol holds a bachelor's degree in law from the University of Brasilia (FD/UnB) and is a lawyer at Navarro Prado Advogados (NPA), a law firm that has extensive practice in public law with focus on regulation and infrastructure law.
His practice is focused on arbitration, especially on infrastructure issues and involving the Public Sector.
Also acts on administrative litigation within: National Agency of Waterway Transportation (ANTAQ), National Secretariat of Waterways and Ports(SNPTA), Brazilian Land Transportation Agency (ANTT), Ministry of Infrastructure (MInfra), Federal Court of Accounts (TCU).
Toniol also works in strategic litigation, especially lawsuits related to Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) . Has experience in consulting on structuring Specific Purpose Companies (SPEs) and matters in the railway and port sectors.
As part of the arbitration experience, area in which Toniol acts since 2016, he is a president of the Arbitration Committee of Brazilian Bar Association/Federal District Section (OAB/DF); acts in the agreement between the OAB/DF and CBMAE (Câmara Brasileira de Mediação e Arbitragem Empresarial) for young professionals, in which participated acting in arbitration on that Chamber; is a member of CEPANI40, an association of the Arbitration and Mediation Institution of Belgium (CEPANI) for young professionals; joined the UnB Moot Team for Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot (for the 2015/16, 2016/17 biennia).
Also is a member of the Group of Studies in Competition Law of the University of Brasília since 2015.
Successfully completed several courses on Competition Law such as “Introduction to EU Competition Law and Enforcement” (UnB in association with University of Glasgow - 2014), “Competition Law” (FGV - 2015), “Competition Law: Case Studies” (UnB – 2015), "Competition Law and Policy" (Brazilian Competition Authority CADE - 2016).
