Gustavo Vázquez-Lozano was born in Mexico. He has authored over forty titles in English and Spanish. He has written novels, children´s stories, and several biographies. He collaborates with various printed media in Mexico and the United States. His novel “La Estrella del Sur” (The Star of the South) was included as reading material for Spanish students at the University of Moscow. In 2014 he wrote “1914”, his first graphic novel, about the Mexican Revolution. In recent years, he has also focused in religious studies.
Among his most recent publications are the biographies of Empress Carlota of Mexico and the history of the 201st Squadron, the Mexican pilots who fought in World War II, featured in The New York Times.
In 2016 he won both the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz International Novel Award for “El elefante que sonreía” (The elephant that smiled), and the Beatriz Espejo National Award for Best Short Story.
He resides in Aguascalientes, Mexico, and teaches Creative Writing.
