Guy W. Gane, Jr
Life Coach, Public Speaker, and Writer in Michigan
Have you ever considered what life would be like if you were accused of a crime? Have you ever considered what life would be like in prison? Have you ever considered what life would be like in prison for a crime you never committed?
Despite vehemently proclaiming his innocence as well as passing two separate polygraph tests, Guy spent nine years of his life in Federal Prison. Like you, he never believed something like that could happen to him.
Most of us have been led to believe that even though someone may not have done what they were accused of, that they had to do something! "After all people don't go to prison for no reason!"
Or do they?
Although most of us can never imagine being incarcerated, 3-5% of inmates in the nation' prisons are in fact, innocent! Since most of those who are charged ‘plead out’ there are no accurate figures available but there have been unofficial estimates as high as 15-20% wrongfully accused sitting behind bars!
What is even more astounding is that 10,000-12,000 people are charged with a crime every day! The FBI's Criminal Database lists nearly 80 million Americans as criminals! (Statistics provided by the Wall Street Journal 9/18/14). A country of approximately 330 million people has 25% of it's citizens categorized as criminals. Put another way however, excluding those under 18, nearly one-third of the adult population of the United States are listed as crooks!
In prison, Guy found the strength and resolve to rewrite his story and change his life forever. That decision marked the beginning of his recovery and journey back to the life of his dreams. While in prison, he wrote two books - 'Unchained and Unbroken: Life Lessons and Strength Training from a Jailhouse Gymrat' and 'Chrysalis: Awakening to God’s Path, Protection, and Power in Your Life'. Guy is the person whose “been there and done that”; he has walked the walk and can now talk the talk.
Today, Guy through his company Gane Wisdom (ganewisdom.com), is a much sought-after Speaker, Author, Certified Life Coach, and entrepreneur. Additionally, he created the mentorship program known as Prisoncology (prisoncology.com), where his full story can now be told. This organization, which is partnered with the Christian community nationally, provides not only pre-entry guidance and preparation to those about to enter the prison system, but to their families as well. Prisoncology is also at the forefront of prison reform in the United States.
