Hi!
I founded DogsandKids.co.uk because I was aware of many children who are frightened of dogs or don't know how to behave 'safely' with them... plus of course many dog owners don't really understand how to keep their dogs safe around people.
Through various media including our corporate website http://www.dogsandkids.co.uk we provide a growing wealth of information and advice to help transform behaviour and improve the relationships people, especially children, have with dogs.
We are passionate about responsible dog ownership and helping to prevent vicious dog attacks! We practice only positive reinforcement - gentle and respectful training methods, which are logical and easy to put in place - we don't believe in using force or fear (and in fact we know that they just don't work)!
Dogs are everywhere, 1 in 4 households include at least one dog!
We are concerned about the potential for mishaps because of the way dogs behave around children or the way children act around dogs.
We want everyone to have wonderful, safe and joyful relationships with dogs.
Originally from the North East of England, we had dogs at home most of my growing up and after leaving home I had dogs of my own. Over the years when I have been without my own dog I have frequently 'house sat' for others with dogs. We currently have two gorgeous, gentle Border Collie 'girls'; my partner's hobby is dog agility and we also look after dogs for other people who need help & don't want to put their dogs in kennels or just need a loving home for them while they're busy or away.
Although art was my best subject at school and I always wanted to be an Art Teacher, through accident of circumstance I became a qualified Chartered Accountant! Then after completing a full-time MBA my career was as a Management Consultant, specialising in business transformation - not a million miles away from dog behaviour transformation!
