The beautiful ancient city of Gympie is put in the Wide Bay/Burnett region of Queensland, 160 kilometres north of Brisbane about. Situated on the Mary River, it has a population around 18,600 inhabitants.

Well-known for its gold domains, Gympie has many historic properties that are authorized on the Queensland Traditions Register.

The name of Gympie comes from the Aboriginal tribe "Kabi" called 'gimpi-gimpi', this means 'stinging tree'. Seemingly, the town once was called 'Nashville' after Mr Adam Nash who uncovered gold in your community around 1867. In 1868, the name was transformed to Gympie.

The original Western european settlers were graziers, however when Adam Nash enlightened most of his unearthing of payable alluvial platinum in Oct 1867, this diagnosis has been purported to have kept Queensland from individual bankruptcy.
