Hey, my name is Hannah Kay Brooks. Anyone who knows me, knows I have a high energy personality which I use while playing the most intense and high energy sport, volleyball. I have played volleyball for the last six years, and this is the first year that I will go through the entire season of fall not touch a volleyball. I honestly feel like a part of me is missing. I had to choose between being a student volleyball athlete, and attending the University of Georgia. Obviously I chose UGA because I am writing this biography. Why not both you might ask? Well, considering the shortest volleyball player on the University of Georgia volleyball team is 6’ 1”. I am an astounding 5’ 8”, you can do the math. However, aside from height, volleyball requires high energy, trust, communication, and a positive attitude, which I like to think I posses. If you do not already have these characteristics, volleyball will teach you how to acquire them. It is such a fast pace and intense sport, you must to be able to keep up with everything. You have no other options but to believe in yourself and your teammates. You can not let one mistake get you down for the rest of the match, because it takes one good kill to change the whole game. Volleyball is one sport that has the ability to bring the whole team so close together, you are basically a family. Your team becomes your best friends, your shoulder to cry on, your councillors, and the ones always there supporting you. Volleyball is not just a sport. It builds character. It provides relationships. It becomes a part of you. It pains me knowing that I will not be apart of a volleyball team this year, however I will always have the love and support from previous teammate. That is what keeps me running.
