Haeshah Z. Cooper

Pittsburgh, PA

Haeshah Z. Cooper is the Communications Manager at Urban Innovation21. Here, she utilizes her extensive education and knowledge of mass media and manages Urban Innovation21’s social media outlets, website content, and internal/external communications.

Haeshah is originally from Columbia, South Carolina. With the desire to further her education, she decided to relocate to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 2009. Haeshah attended Claflin University, where she graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications, with a concentration in Print Journalism and a minor in English. Haeshah was the President of the Mass Communications Society during her senior year. Haeshah is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Haeshah is a One Young World Ambassador, where she first attended in Pittsburgh, PA (2012) and Johannesburg, South Africa (2013). As a young professional, Haeshah has found this summit to be very rewarding, creative, and eye opening. Haeshah is very passionate about helping others and giving back to the community. Haeshah was recently nominated for the Public Allies RISE: Changemaker Award (2012), she was nominated by previous employers, residents of the Hill District community, and colleagues.

Last year, Haeshah was given the opportunity to be Community Engagement Scholar. Many avenues of community leadership were explored throughout the year. Haeshah actively engaged with students and organizations, mainly FOCUS Pittsburgh, while they participated in different service-learning projects at Duquesne University.
