Hello, my name is Hailey. Before coming to Athens this semester, I decided to study abroad. I was abroad with a program called Semester at Sea. The easiest way to describe my past few months would be to say I felt like I was in an episode of Suite Life on Deck. For those of you who don't know what television show I am referring to, I was basically living life on a cruise ship for four months. I traveled the world and had once in a lifetime experiences. From the hectic and overpopulated streets of New Delhi to the more urban and sophisticated lifestyle of those in Tokyo, I know that I have a better understanding of the world and of different cultures. I have always had a passion for travel and exploring new cultures and lifestyles. Photographed on the left is a picture of me in one of my favorite countries, Cambodia. Although I got to see these incredible temples such as the infamous Angkor Wat, my favorite memories were the smaller ones which were usually the interactions with locals. Although it feels like I was living in a fantasy this past semester, I know I will go abroad and travel later on in my life. I am grateful for my experiences abroad and the opportunity to travel because it was how I truly found myself. I am excited for a new beginning at UGA!
