Hajar is the founder of Urbane Nomads, a travel company that is about luxury travel in remote, off-the-beaten-trek destinations. Urbane Nomads lists destinations typically off the luxury traveller's radar, creating access to little explored destinations. Examples of activities and destinations include falconry in Kazakh Mongolia, luxury camping through the Empty Quarter, kite-skiing in Antarctica or a trip through Northern Pakistan. She has spoken and participated on the panels of key industry events in Istanbul, Singapore and Cannes. Events include the panel of International Luxury Travel Mart in Cannes, ECECIBT coinciding with Visit Istanbul year in 2010 , a talk at Royal Geographical Society in Singapore as well as the inaugural TTG Asia Travel Agent's Conference. Hajar was also nominated as one of the 'Great Women of our Time' by Singapore Women's Weekly', profiled as one of 'Singapore's Top Tastemakers' by Elle Magazine SG, Style Singapore's 'The New Guard' for an SG 50 feature as well as a collaboration with Aldo Singapore in benefit of Action for AIDS. Her other roles include being editor of Menews, Mensa Singapore's Newsletter.
A graduate of the Institute of Defense and Strategic Studies(now RSIS), Hajar loves horses, travel and interesting architecture. On 28th March 2012, Hajar successfully concluded an expedition of the Empty Quarter. She is the first woman to cross the Rub Al Khali(Empty Quarter). In 2015, she received her polo handicap from Cowdray Park Polo (UK) and learnt horseback archery in Turkey.
Hajar has been profiled in Conde Nast Traveller (UK), Discovery Channel, Business Times (Singapore) , Channel News Asia, Oryx (Qatar Airways), The Straits Times(Singapore), Travel Arabia(UAE), Gulf News(UAE) and The Week (Oman). She is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.
