Hannah Jenkins
Frostburg, MD
My name is Hannah Jenkins. I am a student at Frostburg State University, and I'm working to earn my BA in elementary/middle school education with a focus in science. My desire is to teach middle school earth/space science or life science. This semester I am excited be going to a three week assistantship with a partner to co-teach a classroom of young learners. I have my AA from Allegany College of Maryland in early childhood education, but I realized that I enjoy science too much to go without it for most of my adult life.
Although my education is a top priority in my life, I do not believe that life is worth living without some fun and advenure. I love to kayak, hike, travel and string my hammock between any trees I can find. Travelling has become quite an important component in my life. I have made it a priority to go to a new place each year, whether or not I can afford to do so. In Summer 2014, I visited Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor in Maine, and during Summer 2015, I plan to visit Anchorage, Alaska.
Before all else, I am a sister, a daughter, a fiancee, a mommy (to my dog), and an aunt-to-be. I have two sisters, Marisah, who is nearly three years old, and Moriah, who is eighteen years old. I strive to capture some of Marisah's unblemished worldview and use it for myself on sad days. Her belief that all cakes are a means for celebration, or that the key to happiness is putting on bedroom slippers after a long day is a wonderfully simplistic way to live. Moriah, my middle sister, has recently announced that she will be having a baby this year, which makes me more excited than words can express. My mother and my fiance are the most incredible, flexible, supportive humans on the planet, and my dad makes me proud to be his daughter each day as I watch him single-handedly raise Marisah. My puppy, Kepler, holds my heart. The way he gets excited to see me as soon as I walk in the door makes my soul smile, even when I'm already having a great day.
