Haley Baker

Hello, my name is Haley Baker. I am currently a student at Columbus College of Art & Design studying Illustration and minoring in Graphic Design and Business. I was raised in a small Midwestern town in Ohio, and like most small Midwestern towns, I was surrounded with the idea that what I wanted to do was not as important as Engineering and other Science-y pursuits. While I still have a healthy amount of nostalgia for where I grew up, I couldn't wait to live right downtown in a big city. Thankfully my parents were supportive of dreams, and now the practical, Midwestern ideals instilled in me are evident as ever, as I focus on creating art that is both fun, and useful. Recently, I have been developing fun patterns, and graphic illustrations, that depict different, coexisting objects and symbols. My work consist of saturated, complementary color pallets that demonstrate our connection of brighter colors with brighter times. My more elaborate illustrations always include a touch of whimsy, and primarily focus on animals as the subject. With every one of my pieces, I pay close attention to even the smallest details that add an extra element to what I create. I often find that is it the littlest touch that can make a person’s experience so much better.
