Haley Thorpe
Ithaca, New York, United States
Hello! I am a current student at Ithaca College as a Cinema and Photography major with a concentration in Still Photography. I am currently a Junior, and spent my Fall 2013 semester studying in London.
In the past I have taken history courses, production courses, and analytical courses about photography and other art forms. However outside of the classroom, I have created and found new opportunities in order to learn as much as possible. I developed an entrepreneurial photography service in my hometown, which I entitled Haley Thorpe Photography. I learned how to communicate with clients and create the right product for specific purposes. In addition I continued to advertise through my own page on Facebook to spread my services to a wider audience.
I hope to find work through which I can make a difference with my photography. I have recently been inspired by documentary photography through my Park Award for Photo Activism project, where I worked with the Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes to document the lives of the women who have been affected by cancer and the efforts of the center. I would love the opportunity to continue these documentary efforts through other non-profit organizations.
My goal is to experience all aspects associated with still photography. I am currently enrolled in a course titled Advertising and Illustration where I hope to apply a more commercial element to my work.
