Hello I’m Chelsea I’m from Atlanta, GA and I have played soccer my whole life. It all started when I was 4 years old, much like everyone else in the world, playing for a co-ed rec team. If I’m being honest, this wasn’t really my thing at the time. I spent most of the games picking flowers from the grass and crying to my mom begging to go home. So after that phase, we thought it was best for me to take a few years off. During those few years off I tried out baseball, swimming, and ballet - but that’s a whole different story.
After my failed attempts at new sports, I finally resorted back to my soccer roots. This is when things began to look up for me and I met my best friends. Once I joined a club team, I started to become more serious about it. I played with the same team for 9 years of my life, travelling with them for tournaments every year and seeing them 24/7.
During this time, I was also playing school soccer. Before I moved schools, I hated school soccer because I had no friends on my team. After moving, a lot of my school teammates were also my club teammates. So now I was really with them 24/7. We would go straight from school practice to club practice together, it was the best.
I was so sad to graduate high school because that meant no more soccer. That was until freshman year of college, a new friend of mine asked me to join an intramural soccer team with her and a bunch of random people. I was so excited to start playing again and meet all these new people. That was until we only made it to one game that we lost and never showed up again because we never had time.
Anyways, now I am retired and don’t plan on playing soccer again. However, it was a huge part of my life and I will always be so grateful for the experiences that I gained and lifelong friends I made along the way.
