Francisco “Hambo” López is a Puerto Rican gaming and technology analyst, media personality, entrepreneur, and content creator with 20 years of experience covering the video game industry.
Hambo began his media career in 2006 writing about video games for Primera Hora in Puerto Rico. Since then, he has built a career across digital media, television, radio, print, live events, and content creation, becoming one of the most recognized voices in gaming and technology in Puerto Rico.
In 2011, he founded Yo Soy Un Gamer (YSUG), a Spanish-language gaming media platform created to inform, entertain, and build a community around video games and technology. Over the years, Yo Soy Un Gamer has grown into a major digital brand, building a community of more than 1.3 million followers and covering some of the world’s most important gaming and technology events.
His work has taken him around the world covering the industry firsthand, including CES, Summer Game Fest, Gamescom, Computex, product launches, gaming showcases, and major technology events. In 2020, he was selected as a member of The Game Awards Future Class, an international group recognizing individuals helping shape the future of the video game industry.
Beyond media, Hambo has spent nearly two decades creating gaming experiences in Puerto Rico. His projects have included the Puerto Rico Association of Gamers, Gaming Xplosion Fest, La Batalla de Arcadia, educational initiatives with Microsoft and the Puerto Rico Economic Development Bank, and Arcadia Battle Royale, continuing his mission of creating opportunities for Puerto Rico’s gaming community.
Today, Hambo continues to cover gaming and technology across multiple platforms. He is the host of Yo Soy Un Gamer TV on Telemundo Puerto Rico, a gaming and technology contributor on KQ105’s La Tendencia de Molusco, and a columnist for Primera Hora. Through Yo Soy Un Gamer and his personal platforms, he produces original coverage, analysis, interviews, and content for audiences in Puerto Rico, the United States, and across the Spanish-speaking gaming community.
After 20 years, his focus remains the same: connecting people with gaming and technology while creating opportunities for Puerto Rico to be part of the global conversation.
