Hamid Arabnia

An Elected Fellow of the International Society of Intelligent Biological Medicine, Dr. Hamid Arabnia currently serves as a Professor of Computer Science for the University of Georgia in Athens (UGA). During his 25 years at UGA, Dr. Hamid R. Arabnia has served in a variety of capacities, including Chair of the Computer Science Graduate Programs Committee and Chair of the Computer Science Curriculum Committee. A current member of the Tenured Faculty Committee, Dr. Arabnia has also chaired the Computer Science Graduate Examinations Committee, the Computer Science Graduate Admissions Committee, and the Industry/External Relations Committee.

Dr. Hamid R. Arabnia has been invited to speak on a wide range of topics by a number of professional organizations and institutions, including the North American Transputer Users Group, the International Society for Optical Engineering, and the 23rd International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Computing and Systems. Dr. Arabnia has also served as a panelist for the Workshop of American Standard of Ranking and Accreditation of Higher Education Institutions, and for the 10th IEEE International Conference on High Performance Computing and Communications.

Dr. Hamid Arabnia laid the foundations for his career at Polytechnic of Wales in the United Kingdom, now known as the University of Glamorgan. After graduating with honors, he went on to earn his Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Kent in Canterbury, England, where he also acted as a Student Instructor.

Away from his professional responsibilities, Dr. Hamid R. Arabnia enjoys eating at his favorite restaurants, swimming, reading science fiction, and traveling.
