Jolene Himmelspach
Vernon, British Columbia
In the fourth grade, Jolene Himmelspach stumbled upon her mothers Nikon camera and wanted to be just like her mom; always photographing her children running around, and special moments in their lives. The thing that interested Jolene the most about photography, was capturing the mood and atmosphere in one click.
Jolene was borrowing her mothers camera whenever she wasn't using it, and began experimenting with the settings and eventually began learning more and more about photography. She would spend her spare time photographing, and researching photography tips and techniques.
Near the beginning of high school, Jolene received her own Nikon d5100 camera for her birthday. Ecstatic, she instantaneously began photographing everything she could see, and her experience grew and grew. However, this soon began to bore Jolene, and she had to find something else to photograph.
One night an idea popped into her head. Jolene wanted to become a concert photographer, and follow bands along tours and become their personal photographer for all their photography needs. Jolene began contacting local bands, and getting into small gigs for free, until her name started to get out there.
On one of the local band's facebook page that Jolene had previously shooted for, they advertised a music festival that they were performing at in Jolene's area. Instantly, she looked up and ressearched this music festival and found out that they did not have an official photographer yet. Attempting to claim her first big photography job, Jolene sent the music festival coordinators an email, and before she knew it, she was on board on their team as a photographer.
